SAMBURU HAZE

A reticulated giraffe drifts into the frame while the rest of her herd softens into the heat haze behind her. Painted with the dry landscapes of northern Kenya's Samburu in mind, Samburu Haze is a close, intimate portrait of an animal people often assume is everywhere. Reticulated giraffes are classed as Endangered, with only around 16,000 left in the wild. Their decline has been so quiet that conservationists call it a silent extinction.
