Red Colobus Monkey

Critically Endangered

POPULATION

All 17 species of red colobus monkey are threatened with extinction. Thirteen are already listed as Critically Endangered or Endangered, making them the most threatened group of African monkeys.

THE THREAT

Red colobus are among the first species to disappear when forests are hunted out. Bound to the high canopy, they now only survive in small isolated pockets. When forests break apart, families cannot reunite, populations shrink and recovery becomes increasingly unlikely.

ABOUT THIS PAINTING

"I painted the red colobus because almost nobody knows their name. They are stunning, yet they are vanishing quietly."

20% of the original sale of this painting, and 15% of every limited edition fine art print, will go directly to the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA).

THE HOPE

The Pan African Sanctuary Alliance work across Africa to protect African primates and rehabilitate those rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and habitat loss.
